Switching is my main interest, but you need an industry and spur to help
make switching fun. To add more life, looks and character, I placed appropriate
structures on the layout, at the spur locations. Many of these were suppose to
be temporary, but lasted well over a year. Some structures were simply poster
or hard-board mock-ups, painted and given details.

Two mines operated in the Loma Alta, making for interesting switch moves

The Molly K mine required the use of the grade to back in to the mine spur

The Teresa K mine had crews use the switch-back tail to reach its spur.

Loma Alta depot had only a front and side wall, hiding an access hole behind.

Paul is an HO scale, NYC RR fan. He custom painted and lettered two Gn3
hoppers for my Christmas gifts.
