Barry Bogs' Ferdinand Magellan Car Roof and Ends June 5th, 2020 |
Work on the roof and rounded end sections |
"With most of the interior details done before it is painted, I directed the boys to put a roof on it! The roof castings were made early on with the FM project, so it was just a matter of attaching the first section to the body and then fitting the next one to the attached section until they got to the end of the car. Now what to do at the ends of the car roof? The boys were scratching their head as far as what to use and how to create the ends. The boys hardly ever get rid of anything in the store room, and after searching through the inventory, the boys found some material that Mr. Westside, Bob Poli had sent some time ago. Thanks Mr. Bob! As it turned out, the material was perfect for making the roof ends. For the life I can not remember what he called it, but it is really cool stuff for carving, sanding, and drilling. I had the boys make a mold and additional castings for the front end roof piece, for another project coming up. Of course, finishing up the roof details, is the next task, and there is much left to do. Well, it's back to work for the boys, so keep the train on the track and I will update you again when the roof is finished and we are ready for paint." - - Barry |
