D&RGW  Dynamometer Car  -  May 2017

Painted and Finished, the cars goes the layout!  Here it is in Durango Yard coupled to the F unit.
The various details stand out, from the cast rivets to the brass parts.  The prototype started life
as a Troop Transport car,  ended up as a Diesel test car.  Now it's in 22.5 scale and ready to roll !

A telegram from the shop during May 2017...

It is another happy day as the boys in the shop pushed the freshly painted dynamometer car out into the sunshine! Yes, the paint shop boys just pulled the last masking tape off, before the F units pulled up and coupled on. After a slow run on the line, to check for clearances, the crew found a couple of issues that had to be addressed. After a little C4 and elbow grease, the car squeaked past the pinch points and continued on. Hey, a miss is good as a mile here. The car seems to glide down the track with the roller bearing wheel sets. No wonder the boys were able to push it out of the paint shop by themselves! All in all, everyone is happy today, and I decided to give the boys in the paint shop the rest of the day off!
