Wednesday 4/6: Bruce P
said there were high winds and a look over the RR would be wise.
I worked uphill on the High Point sub, cleaning the ROW of twigs, with
the Bruce Bus (#3). After lunch, it drizzled all afternoon so I
put on some rain gear and walked the Clear Lake sub and cleaned the
twigs off that. About MP 3.0 a small dead tree was down and the
tip was on the tracks. That was the biggest piece I saw.
See pic 06a.
Thursday & Friday 4/7-8:
were spent blowing the leaves of the ROW. The main line and the
CB&E is now done.
Saturday 4/9: I met a
new person who has an interest in Live Steam and wanted to see what we
had as he wants to have a working RR in 1/3 scale. His name is Nick
and lives in Battle Creek. He is an apprentice machinist and can
weld. I hope he becomes a regular weekender. I gave him a
tour of the RR with the Bruce Bus with the helper seat. After
Lunch, Bruce P. brought over a relative with 2 small boys who are
train nuts. They got a ride in Alina and Nick was the conductor
riding in caboose 559. The boys were well behaved and had a good
time riding.
Sunday 4/10: Doug F.
came down and we worked on cutting some dead trees in the morning and
spent part of the afternoon leveling the curve that #7 doesn’t like
and went on the ground twice over the winter on the High Pt sub. Plus
a pleasant surprise, Nick stopped by in the afternoon to help with
ballasting. We did a lot on the High Point sub from the switch
at High Point to the near the TT.
Monday
4/11: Tom W. came down and we worked on tie replacement. We started
on the High Point sub at the turntable and replaced the ties and
ballasted and raised the track as it had sunk and didn’t line up to
TT. Once that area was done, we worked the line back toward the High
Point depot sign.
