Brayden came over and we fired up #7 to
test the pump with steam and give him some seat time. It worked
good for a while around Phelps but when we got to Sumac, it stopped
and I couldn’t get it to restart. We went back to the roundhouse
and put the other pump back together that Tim worked on and it tested
OK on the workbench. Brayden is really good at taking the pump on and
off the engine now as he has done it many times over the past 4 weeks.
That pump wouldn’t work for more than a few cycles under steam. We
were disappointed! I came up with an idea and we did like the
British do when they needed braking and put the gon on as a brake van.
The East end was to covered in leaves to go that way so the West end
was our schooling area. This worked good and Brayden got to work
her up the hill from Sumac to High Point 3 times to see how the water
behaved on uphill and on a slight downhill that is encountered to
High Point. We even backed up the spur and used the coal dock at
High Point. Note #7 starting to backup the spur. - Tom
